1Malaysia
Three contractors bidding to fix a broken fence at the PM's residence.
One is from MIC, another, MCA and the third is from UMNO.
All three go with the PM's House-official to examine the fence.
The MIC contractor takes out a tape measure and does some
measuring, then works some figures with a pencil.
"Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me."
The MCA contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."
The UMNO contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the House-official and whispers, "$2,700."
The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the
other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"
The UMNO contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you. We hire the guy from MCA to fix the fence."
"Done!" replies the government official.
And that, my friends, is 1Malaysia!

Good Night Sayang, One Last Time.

You greeted me outside the gate every evening without failed.
In time, you jumped into my car when I opened the car door; when I was supposed to get out of the car to open the gate.
In time, you jumped into my car when I opened the car door; when I was supposed to get out of the car to open the gate.
You soon became part of my life.
Through thick and thin, you stuck by me.
You enjoyed my success together with me and you stayed with me when times were bad.
From a playful and at times, impossible one year old, you have grown to be an adorable, loyal, sweet and beautiful adult dog.

From a playful and at times, impossible one year old, you have grown to be an adorable, loyal, sweet and beautiful adult dog.
You grew old gracefully and continued to be there everyday.
Greeting me when I left the house and waiting patiently for me to come home.
You used to be able to squeeze through the gate to go for your walk about but always came back just in time to see me getting out of the house to go to work.
When I reached home, you would be there waiting!

When I reached home, you would be there waiting!
The few times I caught you coming home after I was at home, I discovered that you could be shy and tried to hide your embarrassment by burying your face on my lap!
I loved it when you did that!
You used to follow next to the car until I reached the main junction around the corner every time I left the house.

You grew a little wider over the years. I had to saw one of the bars from the gate just so you could get out to do your daily walk about.
When Pam came into my life, you accepted her and became a great companion to us.
The last few years, my health deteriorated and I didn't get the chance to spend much time with you everyday.

But whenever I got the chance to go out, you would be waiting for me at the front door and when I came back, you were always waiting by the gate patiently for me to let you out for your walk about.
It took you some time to get used to staying at home without being able to go out through the gate after your visit to the hospital 2 years back, when we decided to let you spent more time at home.

You adjusted well my love.
Looking back, I'm so glad we did the renovation. You got the chance to stay at the front of house instead of being alone at the back.
You seemed happier as you continued to go out for your walk. Even though it's only twice a day instead of as you liked.

You were less alert as compared to before, but I was happy for you as I felt you should be enjoying your old age, rest more and slept more.
You left us on Easter Monday, April 26 without saying goodbye.
But from your sleeping position, I believed you passed on in your sleep.
I thank God that you didn't suffer and passed away peacefully.

Girl, just over the weekend I have embarked on the next phase of my life. I thought you were going to give me at least the next few years to move us all into a bigger house with more space for you to run around.
I'm sorry it took me too long.
Thank you for coming into my life.

Thank you for being my only companion for many years until Pam came into both our lives.
Thank you for the memories. 14 years of great friendship and companionship.
I'm glad I told you I love you just few days back.
Thank you Girl.

Marketing 101 - The Malaysian Way
Isn't this an easier way to understand Marketing? When it is relevant!
Samy Vellu sees a gorgeous girl at a party.
He goes up to her and says: "I am very rich. Marry me!"
That's Direct Marketing.
Mukhriz sees a gorgeous girl at a party.
One of his loyal UMNO friends goes up to her and pointing
at Mukhriz and says: "He's very rich. Marry him!"
That's Advertising.
Khir Toyol sees a gorgeous girl at a party.
He goes up to her and gets her telephone number.
The next day, he calls and says: "Hi, I'm very rich. Marry me!"
That's Telemarketing.
Khairy is at a party and sees a gorgeous girl.
He gets up and straightens his tie, walks up to her and pours her a
drink, he opens the door (of the car) for her, picks up her bag after
she drops it, offers her ride and then says:
"By the way, I'm rich. Will you Marry Me?"
That's Public Relations.
Razak Baginda is at a party and sees a gorgeous girl.
The girl walks up to him and says:
"You are very rich! Can you marry me?"
That's Brand Recognition.
Syed Hamid sees a gorgeous girl at a party.
He goes up to her and says: "I am very rich. Marry me!"
She gives Hamid a tight and hard slap on his face.
That's Customer Feedback.
Not satisfied, Hamid goes to see another gorgeous girl at a party.
He goes up to her and says: "I am very rich. Marry me!"
And she introduces Hamid to her husband.
That's Demand and Supply gap.
Abdullah sees a gorgeous girl at a party.
He goes up to her and before he can say anything,
another person comes and tells her: "I'm rich. Will you marry me?"
And she goes with him.
That's competition eating into your market share.
And finally Najib sees a gorgeous girl at a party.
He goes up to her and before he can say: "I'm rich, Marry me!"
Rosmah arrives.
That's restriction for entering new market.

Who is John?
If you don't know John Ong...
if you're from Penang...
If you speak Hokkien...
You'd better.
He is the founder...
He is the host...
He is the one behind...
Penang Hokkien podcast.
We finally got the chance to meet and chat after not seeing each other for about 27 years.
I thought it was 21 years as I assumed we met the evening before his sister gotten married.
But from conversation, we believed we didn't.
I'm so thrilled to finally meet him not because he is John Ong the celebrity.
It was great meeting him because he is still the same John I remember when we were kids!
Now, that is one of Life's Precious Moments ;)

Natural Healing
I do not know for sure. But at the same time, I do know from my own experience that the medicine I have been taking is giving me side effects and additional health issues.
Recently, I was re-introduced to something I bought for my mum, aunt and my cousin's mother a few years ago.
It's called Scalar Energy pendant.
I feel different few days after wearing the pendant.
I have never felt so energetic for a very long time!
The tightness on my ankles and pain on my knees gone!
I could walk up and down the stairs! Something I have been struggling to do for many, many, many months!
I continue to feel good waking up in the morning.
Thanks for re-introducing me to this great product Xin Yii ;)

How Do You Want to be Treated
Now that I am feeling better more than half the time, my mind started to do more thinking, instead of blocking the pain!
So I get to think a little more about things...
Growing up, I was introduced to harsh discipline, unlike most kids my time and definitely very different from kids these days.
I was used to words like stupid, no brain, because I said so and a good beating when I refused to accept "I told you so" as an answer.
So I worked hard, I strived even harder to ensure I knew better than the rest on things I liked and did so no one could ever label me. Ever!
Talk about negative encouragements!
I know for a fact if I allowed this to happen to my own kids, the vicious cycle will continue to the next generation. This just isn't right and I want it to stop at me.
I am thankful I discovered this now as I haven't started family of my own just yet.
I wouldn't want to label my kids stupid, no brain, etc when they grow up, or for them to call me that when I grow old.
At the same time, I need to find a way to get through to them at an early age that listening skill, power of observation and being able to think logically and make sound decisions are all life's skills needed to be a complete human being.
There is no Parenting 101. But I know I have people that I can ask for help and guidance.
For a start, I have Dr & Mrs Kok.
For them to have 4 great kids, they must have done something very right!
I know for a fact that Mrs Kok has parents that brought her 2 brothers and her up well too. We have been neighbours before I was even born!
So I am indeed very blessed to have reconnected with them just recently!

Dr & Mrs Kok

Mrs Kok's (Agatha) dad

and mum
P.S.
Yo Dr Kok, when I grow up I wanna be just like you :D

Still Finding My Ways
Not too long ago, I thought life was about fulfilling my childhood dreams.
I bought myself the coupe, the hatchback and the roadsters my father promised to get me when I got my driving license.
He passed away before I reached driving age.
Anyway, I got them all later on!
Then I realized life is more than material things.
I needed to refocus.
I started my own business, from providing small scale brand consultation work to working with agencies and setting up partnerships to pitch for major branding projects.
Life became work.
Work was life.
Eventually, I started to search for more meaningful things in life.
Hence, earlier this year, I started to focus on:
Health in my body,
Wealth in my life,
Peace in my heart,
Joy in my home.
Just today, I finally realized I need to accept one thing, the one thing that most probably will give me joy in my home and peace in my heart:
Live for myself. Live my life.
Live a life I intend to live.
I need to learn to let go.
Just need to figure out how much is enough of a let go.
Funny this thing called life.
I thought I was selfish when it used to be all about me and my dreams.
I've just come a full circle.
It's just that I haven't figured out what's the difference between then and now.
Not just yet...
